The Genealogical Society meets the third Monday of the month except December, January, and February, at 7pm at the library.
Kalkaska’s foremost genealogist, Dawn Triplett, has a new book called “Brave Boys Were They” which is a collection of biographies of more than400 veterans, of which more than 200 are buried in Kalkaska County cemeteries.
The 375-page softcover book includes information about the Grand Army of the Republic and the Women’s Relief Corps, newspaper accounts, transcribed minutes and photographs. There is also an index with more than 1,600 surnames.
Of course the book will soon be available at the KCL, but advanced orders are being taken for purchase through March 31. For more info, call Dawn at 231-258-9265 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
